Finding My Eclectic Vibez

STEPPING OUT AND FINDING YOUR STYLE CAN BE A LITTLE SCARY, UNCERTAIN, AND RISKY BUT SO MUCH FUN ALL IN ONE

I haven't posted in a while but I'm back finding my way bit by bit. I was out and about yesterday and decided to get a little snazzled dazzled in hopes that I could get in the habit of dressing like I'm somebody. It also helps me to start transforming my closet into "me".

I've stated in previous posts that I found myself caught up in following or chasing trends and it wasn't me. For some finding "your" style may come off as a no-brainer but to me, it's much more than that. I feel as though who you are on the inside should exude outwardly. In other words....expressively YOUnique.

I believe the first step is being in tuned with what you like and love. For instance, I love my black community and culture, from our history to the present tense. Hence, the reason why I like to wear headwraps, tribal prints and what I like to call fashion movement pieces. These would be pieces such as clothes or accessories that state "Black Queen", " Team Melanin", "Tribe Healer", etc.

Also, because I would consider myself a bit eclectic; I love playing with patterns, fabrics, colors, prints and pairing them together. It makes for good "Okaaayy Now!" moments when your flaunting yourself in the mirror.

I would also have to add that it's okay to have influencers. You know, people who are the epitome of what you'd hope to manifest one day. These people are great to look to for ideas. Some of my influencers would be none other than Erykah Badu, Solange Knowles, Tessa Thompson, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Netflix's Dear White People's Samantha White and Jo Brooks.

My current look was inspired by Sam White. I mixed thrift looks with current looks. Hopefully when I get my bag up, I can get some vintage pieces; but until then Goodwill it is!

The top, bottoms, and belt are all from Goodwill

The hooded cardigan is from Fashionova

It's all trial and error but have fun with it! Be yourself and it all will naturally fall in place. I'm learning that step by step everyday!
