The Best Entrepreneurs Know Nothing

Updated: Aug 28, 2021

"The man that knows something knows nothing at all" in the words of the profound Erykah Badu. So what does that mean? It means that it's okay to not know. In my time of moving and networking with other fellow entrepreneurs, it's a constant energy that I get sometimes; and that energy comes off as the "all knowing". It's as if people feel that they have to be an expertise in their field and by no means can they exemplify anything less. When did entrepreneurs and business owners mean that you know everything?

I can say I've always been open to asking questions. Even as a makeup artist I still take advice from my clients or supporters on makeup advice. Remember the best teachers know how to follow. You should never be ashamed of not knowing something because it's actually going to be beneficial to you in the long run. Keeping yourself in a position of seeking knowledge allows you to be open to gain information you may have otherwise missed, if you were too afraid of asking questions.

"Some of the most successful entrepreneurs are constantly asking questions because they're constantly learning" paraphrasing from Jacob Layani from CrownTV . If you think about it, how else do you continue to propel in your business if you aren't constantly learning? Things are ever evolving and changing around us everyday so how on God's green earth are you going to just know it? Well..., perhaps if you have some psychic power to see in the future but unfortunately we aren't all blessed with those power.

When you open yourself to soaking up knowledge from whoever and wherever, you open up opportunities to expand and grow your business. We're never to old to learn and never to old to learn from others; even if they aren't as old, experienced, or knowledgeable. You never know what someone can teach you, even in their mistakes. There is no pride when it comes to learning and building so take your pride out of it; and allow yourself to be humble enough to receive.

I mean ask yourself: would you rather look like an expertise with little to no success are would you want to look like student and continue to thrive? It's business not personal, remember? Doing business doesn't have a look, it's what you do. Spend less time worrying about how you'll look and more time on how to grow. Ask questions if you don't know and you'd be surprised how that helps you with networking and growth. At the end of the day you have to decided why did you become and entrepreneur? Are you doing it for aesthetics (the way it looks) or are you doing it for independence, creativity, freedom, growth?

Do you get intimidated by asking questions? Do you feel the burden of having all the answers as an entrepreneur?
